Send any Slack message to Simple Product

With the Simple Product Slack integration, you can already add Simple Product to a channel, @mention and ask Simple Product to capture feedback or create a card or a doc. You can use the /sp listen command to have Simple Product listen for feedback too. But what if you just want to add a one off message as feedback into Simple Product? No adding to a channel, to mentions, just add this one thing. Now you can do that too.

Hover any message in Slack, click ⋯, and choose Send to Simple Product. The message is saved as feedback in your workspace:

  • It's attributed to the person who wrote it: a customer, a teammate, or someone from another company in a shared channel.
  • It includes a link back to the original message.
  • Only you see the confirmation, with a link to the feedback. Nothing is posted in the channel.

It works in any channel, thread or DM you can see, including channels Simple Product hasn't been invited to. Use it for the one great comment in a busy channel, a customer DM, or a thread you're reading.

Good to know

  • The first time, it may be under More message shortcuts… in the ⋯ menu. Slack moves it up once you've used it.
  • Sending the same message twice gives you a link to the feedback it was already saved as. No duplicates, and listening won't save it again either.
  • New feedback triggers your automations as usual. If a skill posts new feedback to a channel or triages it into cards, it runs on these too.
  • If Slack doesn't share someone's email, which is common for people from other companies, the feedback is still attributed to them by name.

Thanks to Rachel at ClearSync for the idea: "I can just click to send something… without having to add it to the channel first."
