Talk to Simple Product from Slack — DMs, @-mentions, full workspace tools
What shipped
Simple Product is now a proper Slack agent. The same engine that powers sp3k in the web app runs inside Slack now, with the workspace tools you'd have in the app itself. Two ways to use it:
- DM the bot in the Messages tab. Multi-turn conversation, no @-mention required — prior messages become conversation context. The app appears in the Slack sidebar under Apps.
- @-mention
@Simple Productin any channel the bot is added to. Replies in a thread. Prior thread messages get pulled in as context so the bot knows what's been discussed.
Both paths show a rotating "thinking" placeholder immediately, then update the message in place with the answer when the agent finishes — no dead-air wait.
What you can ask it
Everything sp3k can do, restricted to workspace-scoped tools:
- Look up cards, docs, feedback, releases, people, orgs
- Create or update anything you have permission to change
- Search across your workspace
- Pull web pages or web-search results as reference
Cross-workspace tools (switch_workspace, workspace listing) and email-sending are deliberately excluded from the Slack surface — they need a different consent model for a chat context and will be revisited separately.
How to reach it
- In a channel:
/invite @Simple Product, then@Simple Product [your question]. - As a DM: open Simple Product in Slack's sidebar, click Messages tab, just type.
What's next
- Feedback capture — react to any Slack thread with
:feedback:and the bot distills the thread into a feedback doc with attribution. Killer use case for teams running customer-facing Slack channels or community servers.
Slash commands (/sp ping, /sp add feedback, etc.) work as narrow fast-paths, but the conversational bot is the main event.
